Happy New Month all,

The month August just started. There is a lot going on and it’s also vacation month in my country Suriname.

But I want to talk about the pop up shop. The Hermitage Mall is introducing the first pop up shop to give the Surinamese public the opportunity to get acquainted with Surinamese fashion designers and give them a platform at the same time.

Before going into details I want to explain what a pop up shop is and why it is needed.

Pop-up shops are taking over the retail world and rethinking traditional brick-and-mortar and big-box stores, but what exactly is a shop that ‘pops up’?

Pop-up retails are temporary retail spaces that sell merchandise of any kind. That’s right, just about every consumer product has been sold via a pop-up shop at one point in time. From art to fashion to tech gadgets and food, pop-up stores are exciting because they create short-term stores that are as creative as they are engaging. And, they come in all shapes and sizes.

What are the benefits of a pop-up shop?

The pop-up retail format allows you to personally get to know your customers and build stronger relationships.

About 95% of all purchases are still completed offline. This is your opportunity to take advantage of this retail channel.

Consumers and the media love the excitement generated by pop-up shops. Build awareness by going offline!

Launching a pop-up shop is 80% cheaper than a traditional retail store.

In the Hermitage pop up shop first floor, Unit 34, 9 talented local designers are offered the opportunity to present their designs. The designers have designed new and special designs for the pop up shop. The shop will always be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where you can buy most up-to-date clothing, bags, caps and jewelry.

The first two weekends are aimed at designers who present a colorful urban / street vibe and then the last two weekends minimalist, sleek and very chic designs. The designers who will present their designs are: 59Seven, Afrotoonz, Slocobaia, Kid Art Clothing, Warda Marica, Christel Nirk, WULF the Label, IMI and Yve de Pé.

I hope to see you there and let us support our local fashion designers.
